Things were cozy at The Row this week. On Monday morning, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen invited the media to preview their Fall 2016 collection, which was decorated as spectacularly as you’d imagine their own homes might be.
The space served as respite from the blizzard-like weather outside: Guests were gifted cashmere throws and the room was filled with enviable vintage furniture courtesy of Wyeth, a New York furniture shop specializing in mid-century modern pieces.
The Olsens commissioned Wyeth owner John Birch to curate a selection of pieces for the event, all of which is now currently available to buy directly from Wyeth.
Some of the standouts include a custom bamboo low table, a Mario Bellini sofa from 1972, and a Raymor lamp by Ben Seibel. “We have been collecting furniture for quite some time now,” explains Ashley. “Incorporating these pieces in The Row showroom, retail stores, and smaller shop spaces have become part of our visual concept.”
As for the decision to present the Fall collection alongside Wyeth’s covetable furniture, Mary-Kate explains, “We wanted the presentation to feel warm and intimate, especially in this winter weather.
After working with Wyeth for over a decade, we knew that they would curate the space in a way that would complement both the collection and the brand’s overall aesthetic.”
The Row is known for its timelessness and sophistication, two aesthetic elements that Birch understands and deeply appreciates. “Knowing their ability to view design with confidence perfectly suits us, as we believe that our furnishings develop more quality with time,” says Birch. “It’s called character, and Mary-Kate and Ashley are loaded with that quality.”
